The NIGERIA Technology Awards (NiTA) follows a three (3)-round judging and screening process designed to ensure fairness, transparency, independence, consistency and credibility across all award categories.
The process is based exclusively on eligibility screening, verification, expert assessment, professional achievements, technological innovation, measurable impact, organizational performance and alignment with the objectives of each award category.
No public voting, online voting, community voting or other forms of voting are used in the NiTA judging and winner-selection process.
ROUND I – NOMINATION SCREENING & VERIFICATION
Once the Nomination and Entry Process concludes, the NiTA Nomination & Screening Team commences the preliminary screening and verification of all submissions to determine whether each entry meets the published eligibility requirements and award category criteria.
Submissions that do not meet the minimum requirements, contain materially inaccurate information, lack sufficient supporting evidence, or substantially differ from the published entry guidelines may be disqualified or excluded from further consideration.
The preliminary screening may include verification of submitted information, professional credentials, organizational information, achievements, projects, technology initiatives, supporting documents and other relevant evidence.
FOR TECH PROFESSIONALS & INDIVIDUALS, SCREENING IS BASED ON:
- Demonstrated Professional Excellence – Proven record of technical expertise, professional leadership, significant accomplishments and measurable achievements within the nominee’s professional domain.
- Innovation & Creativity – Development, implementation or contribution to innovative technologies, projects, solutions, methodologies or ideas that advance technology adoption and industry best practices.
- Impact & Influence – Demonstrable contributions that have positively influenced an organization, industry, community or the broader Nigerian technology ecosystem.
- Continuous Professional Development – Evidence of ongoing professional learning, relevant certifications, industry participation, knowledge development, mentoring and capacity-building.
- Ethical Standards & Integrity – Demonstrated commitment to professional ethics, responsible technology practices, data protection, transparency and integrity.
- Industry Contribution & Leadership – Contribution to the growth, advancement and development of the technology industry.
FOR PRIVATE COMPANIES, SCREENING IS BASED ON:
- Demonstrated innovation in product or service delivery.
- Effective use of technology to improve operational efficiency and customer experience.
- Quality and relevance of technology solutions or services.
- Business performance and measurable organizational impact.
- Industry leadership, credibility and integrity.
- Contribution to technology development and digital transformation.
- Evidence of achievements and impact within the applicable assessment period.
FOR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES OR PARASTATALS, SCREENING FOCUSES ON:
- Successful deployment of digital transformation initiatives.
- Effective use of ICT and emerging technologies to improve public service delivery.
- Technology-enabled transparency, efficiency and accessibility.
- Measurable impact of technology adoption in policy implementation and governance.
- Innovation in government service delivery.
- Contribution to digital transformation and technology development in Nigeria.
- Evidence of sustainable and measurable outcomes.
Only entries that successfully meet the applicable eligibility and screening requirements will proceed to the formal judging stage.
All qualified entries are submitted to the NiTA Judging Panel Portal for independent assessment and scoring.
ROUND II – JUDGING PANEL ASSESSMENT & VETTING
At this stage, members of the NiTA Judging Panel conduct a comprehensive and independent assessment of all qualified entries.
Each nominee or organization is assessed against the approved criteria applicable to the relevant award category.
The Judging Panel may consider:
- Innovation & Technology Usage
- Professional Excellence
- Organizational Excellence
- Impact & Results
- Industry Contribution
- Leadership & Influence
- Quality & Effectiveness
- Sustainability & Scalability
- Achievement & Performance
- Supporting Evidence & Documentation
- Alignment with Award Category Objectives
Judges shall assess entries objectively based on the information, evidence and achievements presented by the nominees.
Where additional verification is considered necessary, the Awards Organizers or Judging Panel may request clarification, supporting documentation or additional evidence from a nominee.
The judging assessment shall be conducted independently and confidentially.
Members of the Judging Panel are expected to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest and may be excluded from assessing a nominee or organization where such conflict exists.
The Judging Panel shall assign scores based on the approved NiTA Judging & Assessment Framework.
The highest-performing eligible nominees may proceed to the final judging stage.
ROUND III – FINAL JUDGING & WINNER DETERMINATION
The final round involves a detailed review of the shortlisted nominees by the NiTA Judging Panel and, where applicable, the Advisory Board/Awards Committee.
The final assessment may include:
- Review of Round I screening results.
- Review of Round II judging scores.
- Verification of significant achievements and claims.
- Comparative assessment of shortlisted nominees.
- Review of supporting evidence and documentation.
- Assessment of overall category suitability.
- Evaluation of measurable impact and industry contribution.
- Consideration of professional or organizational excellence.
- Final determination of the most deserving nominee.
The final winner shall be determined based on the nominee’s overall performance against the approved NiTA Judging Criteria, the strength of the supporting evidence and the outcome of the independent judging process.
No public voting, online voting, popularity voting, community voting or external voting mechanism forms part of the final winner-selection process.
The NIGERIA Technology Awards (NiTA) recognizes excellence based on demonstrated achievement, innovation, technology usage, impact, professional or organizational excellence, industry contribution and other relevant category-specific criteria.
JUDGING & SCORING FRAMEWORK
The NiTA judging process shall be based on a structured assessment framework. Depending on the award category, the applicable assessment may include:
- Technology Usage & Innovation
Assessment of the effective application of technology, innovation, digital transformation and technology-enabled solutions.
- Achievement & Excellence
Assessment of demonstrated professional, organizational or business achievements.
- Impact & Results
Assessment of measurable results, influence, effectiveness and positive outcomes.
- Industry Contribution
Assessment of contribution to the development and advancement of Nigeria’s technology ecosystem.
- Leadership & Professionalism
Assessment of leadership, expertise, professional conduct and industry influence.
- Sustainability & Growth Potential
Assessment of the sustainability, scalability, relevance and future potential of the achievement or initiative. - Evidence & Verification
Assessment of the credibility, completeness and verifiability of information and supporting documentation submitted.
Category-specific judging criteria may be applied where necessary to ensure that nominees are assessed according to the unique requirements and objectives of each award category.
DISCLOSURE
The NIGERIA Technology Awards (NiTA) recognizes that actual or potential conflicts of interest may pose risks to the integrity and credibility of the judging process. The Awards Organizers therefore take appropriate measures to identify, manage and minimize such conflicts.
Every effort is made to ensure that the judging process is conducted fairly, independently, professionally and transparently, while protecting the confidentiality of judging deliberations.
The NiTA Organizing Committee does not influence or interfere with the independent assessment or scoring of nominees by the Judging Panel.
All nominees and winners are considered based on their verified achievements, demonstrated excellence, innovation, technology usage, professional or organizational performance, measurable impact, industry contribution and alignment with the objectives of the relevant award category.
The Awards Organizers may conduct additional verification where necessary to confirm information submitted by nominees.
The final outcome is determined through the official NiTA Judging & Assessment Process and is not determined by popularity, public voting, online voting or the number of supporters a nominee may have.
The decision of the NiTA Judging Panel, subject to the applicable Awards Rules and final determination procedures, shall be final.
