The NIGERIA Technology Awards (NiTA) follows a three (3)-round judging process designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and credibility across all categories. The process considers expert evaluation, professional achievements, organizational impact, and public perception.
ROUND I – NOMINATION SCREENING & VERIFICATION
Once the Nomination and Entry Process concludes, the NiTA Nomination & Screening Team commences the preliminary verification of all entries to ensure compliance with the published award criteria. Submissions that do not meet the requirements or differ substantially from the entry guidelines will be disqualified without prior notice.
FOR TECH PROFESSIONALS & INDIVIDUALS, VETTING IS BASED ON:
- Demonstrated Professional Excellence – Proven record of technical expertise, leadership, and measurable achievements within their professional domain.
- Innovation & Creativity – Development or contribution to innovative projects, solutions, or ideas that advance technology adoption and industry best practices.
- Impact & Influence – Measurable contributions that have positively influenced their organization, community, or the broader Nigerian technology ecosystem.
- Continuous Professional Development – Ongoing learning, certifications, and engagement in capacity-building or mentorship programs within the tech industry.
- Ethical Standards & Integrity – Adherence to professional ethics, data protection principles, and responsible technology practices.
The overall scoring system is weighted as follows:- Judging Panel Screening, Vetting & Voting – 70%
- Work Experience & Professional Achievements – 20%
- Public Review (Online Voting) – 10%
FOR PRIVATE COMPANIES, VETTING IS BASED ON:
- Demonstrated innovation in product or service delivery
- Use of technology to improve operational efficiency and customer experience
- Industry relevance, integrity, and measurable impact within the past 12 months
FOR GOVERNMENT AGENCIES OR PARASTATALS, VETTING FOCUSES ON:
- Successful deployment of digital transformation initiatives
- Use of ICT in enhancing public service delivery and transparency
- Measurable impact of technology adoption in policy execution and governance
All qualified entries are submitted to the Judging Panel Portal for independent review and scoring.
ROUND II – JUDGING PANEL SCREENING, VETTING & VOTING
At this stage, members of the Judging Panel and Advisory Board conduct a comprehensive assessment of all verified entries. Each nomination is scored on criteria such as innovation, impact, professionalism, and alignment with category objectives.
- The Judging Panel Screening, Vetting & Voting carries a 70% weighting of the total score.
- Work Experience & Professional Achievements contribute 20%, recognizing the candidate’s expertise, leadership, and accomplishments within the industry.
ROUND III – PUBLIC REVIEW & VOTING
The shortlisted nominees are published on the official website for public review and online voting, contributing 10% to the total score, if there is any need to do so by the Advisory Board. Public voting helps reflect community engagement, brand trust, and public endorsement.
